Situation:

A lighting manufacturer making new high intensity LED products for emergency vehicles, was searching for a potting product to ensure weather-proof performance.

Challenges:

Previously used UV potting product led to high cost of scrapped lights that were rejected in quality testing because:

Did not offer sufficient depth of cure that led to quality failures
Uncured product easily vaporized during testing and condensed on the lens

Solutions:

Basis the need for a deep section potting product that seals the light fixture and does not cloud the lens, the Henkel solutions expert recommended LOCTITE E-30CL epoxy adhesive. Loctite E-30 CL is dispensed through a dual cartridge dispenser around the wire to seal the wire to the heat sink base of the LED light.

When tested it was found that LOCTITE E-30CL met all sealing specifications.
