Situation:

A tractor trailer manufacturer was receiving increasing insurance claims from his customers because of goods that were getting damaged during shipment through the trailer due to moisture. They needed a sealant to cover the rivet holes.

Substrates: Aluminium - Alloy || Plywood

Challenges:

  • The manufacturer had joined trailer panels with riveted brackets which allowed moisture to seep in:Holes for riveted assemblies allow moisture into the trailer that can damage contents
  • Damaged goods increase insurance costs and create a poor impression of trailer quality
  • Higher insurance rates increase shipping quotes making trailer customers less competitive

Solutions:

The manufacturer sealed the riveted bracket connections with Teroson MS 930 modified silane. The Teroson MS 930 cartridges were pre-heated and then it was sprayed over the metal and wood surfaces of the interior of the trailer.

Results:

Sealing with Teroson MS 930:

  • Eliminated leak paths and kept shipments dry
  • Lowered warranty costs and customer complaints by increasing trailer quality
  • The additional step of sealing did not slow down production output as the product cured fast
