An electric motor manufacturer faces demanding market requirements for
increased product durability, greater motor efficiency and lower production
costs. We offer reliable and cost-effective solutions for helping electric
motor manufacturers to improve performance and reduce overall costs.
Shaft Mountings
Challenge 1: Bearing loosening
Frictional methods such as press and shrink
fits and mechanical methods such as splines,
keys, and locking pins don't provide a 100%
metal to metal contact between bearings and
shafts. This leads to wallowing and
backlash.
Solution: Retain bearings on shaft securely
with LOCTITE 641 or LOCTITE 609
Challenge 2: Shaft fracturing
Mounting rotor onto the shaft using
frictional methods doesn't provide a 100%
metal to metal contact and results in
fractures due to stress concentration when
subjected to high dynamic loads.
Solution: Retain rotors on shaft with LOCTITE
638 or LOCTITE 648
Housing and end plates
Challenge 1: Housing end bell loosening
Bolts with lock washers loosen from
vibrations of the cooling equipment's
operation. When end bells loosen the motor's
integrity gets compromised.
Solution: LOCTITE 243 fills voids between
threads to prevent movement that leads to
fastener loosening.
Challenge 2: Sealing of motor housing
Perfect sealing of end plate to housing,
cover to junction box or housing to junction
box to protect against chemicals and
moisture is extremely important. Pre-cut
gaskets don't fully conform to flange
surfaces and lead to leaks.
Solution: For perfect gasket sealing, apply
LOCTITE 5910 or 518 on flange surfaces.
Magnet Bonding
Challenge 1: Long production cycles
Bonding magnets with epoxy combined with an
oven-curing process, is a time consuming
method. A faster curing adhesive is needed
to reduce motor assembly time and increase
the production line output.
Solution: LOCTITE 326 and LOCTITE 7387
Activator reduce adhesive fixture time from
1 hour to just 1 minute.
Challenge 1: Chipping of magnets
Messy clip attachment methods sometimes chip
the magnets leaving loose material in the
motor housing. A fast curing, high strength,
magnet bonding adhesive is necessary.
Solution: LOCTITE 324 and LOCTITE 7075
activator eliminates epoxy mixing and
material waste.
Motor stator windings – Potting
Challenge 1: Long production cycle
Solvent and moisture ingress can cause
mechanical damage and degradation to
critical components due to thermal cycling,
vibration and impact. Traditional potting
methods are generally time consuming.
Solution: Encapsulate critical components and
seal aperture with LOCTITE EA E-30CL potting
solution.
Wire tacking of electrical connections
Challenge 1: Coil adjustment
Reinforce wires to prevent breakage during
production and prevent any short circuits
during the winding operation.
Solution: Use LOCTITE 401 Cyanoacrylate
An Generator manufacturer faces demanding market requirements for increased
product durability, greater electrical efficiency and lower production
costs. We offer reliable and cost-effective solutions for helping generator
manufacturers to improve performance and reduce overall costs.
Panel Assembly
Challenge 1: Temperature and corrosion
resistance
Circuit boards within the generator housing
need to be protected from the outside
environment. Therefore the sealing method
needs withstand varying weather extremes and
must not cause corrosion to electronic
components.
Solution: Seal with LOCTITE 5900 and
withstand temperature ranges of -65F to
+500F
Stiffner bonding
Challenge 1: Rust prevention and cost
reduction
Conventional methods like welding require
a higher sheet thickness. This results
in an increase in weight and and
consequently cost. Welding also leaves
micro porosities leading to rust in the
long term.
Solution: Bond securely with LOCTITE MS
9360

Challenge 2: Noise and vibration reduction
Generators need to be designed in a way to
limit the amount of noise and vibration that
they generate.
Solution: Terophon 112DB helps in reducing
both noise and vibration
